Jaeger Rifle, .62 caliber, 31" Colerain swamped barrel, English walnut, brass trim, set triggers, by T. Hardy

Part Number: AAN-099
This German Jaeger is stocked in English walnut, and trimmed in brass furniture. The walnut stock is decorated with raised carving, and a sliding wood patchbox.
The R.E. Davis lock is hand burnished bright and contrasts nicely against the stock and barrel. The large caliber swamped barrel makes this rifle both lightweight and handy, exactly what a German hunter would find desirable. The rifle is signed by contemporary builder T. Hardy on the top flat of the barrel.
The .62 caliber 31" swamped barrel was cut rifled with a 1 in 66" twist by Colerain Barrel Company. Colerain rifle barrels are the favorite choice of today's best muzzle loading gun makers, because knowledgeable shooters demand Colerain's accuracy, inside and outside. Colerain rifle barrels are drilled from solid steel, cut rifled .012" to .016" deep depending on caliber, with six “round bottom" grooves. Called “radius groove rifling", Colerain eliminates the sharp inside corner that accumulates fouling. Radius groove rifling cutters are a bit more expensive to make, but Colerain's customers agree that the accuracy, easy loading, and easy cleaning are worth the cost.

Isaac Haines, Lancaster County Longrifle, .50 caliber 38" Colerain swamped barrel, curly maple, brass trim, Chamber's deluxe Siler flint lock, used, by James Klein

Part Number: AAP-286
This classic golden age era fullstock flint longrifle is in excellent condition, ready to shoot. Modeled after the work of Isaac Haines from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The work of Isaac Haines was little known until John Bivins and his associates began emulating his work. Apparently Joe Kindig, Jr. did not have an Isaac Haines longrifle in his vast collection, so Haines was not listed in Thoughts on the Kentucky Rifle in its Golden Age. Dr. George Shumway suggests that the original gunmaker, Isaac Haines, may have been Lancaster County's most influential gunmaker, bringing his knowledge of sophisticated Philadelphia carving styles to his region, during the 1770's.
Made in the popular Lancaster County, Pennsylvania style this rifle is signed by contemporary builder James Klein on the top flat of the barrel. The curly maple stock is finished to a dark brown and features a hand scraped finish with traditional raised carving. The burnished brass furniture has a light patina finish. The Chambers Deluxe Siler lock and Colerain swamped octagon barrel are finished to a dark brown.
The .50 caliber barrel is a 38" Colerain swamped octagon barrel. The thick breech makes the barrel very strong, while the thin waist saves weight, and the muzzle flares to bring the front sight to the same sighting plane as the rear sight. The .50 caliber bore is cut rifled with six deep radius grooves with a 1 in 56" twist for a tightly patched round ball. The bore is bright, clean, well maintained, in near new condition.
Weighing in at 7.3 pounds the rifle has a trigger reach of 13-1/2" making it perfectly setup for today's average size shooter.
