Part Number: AAN-489
This nice original antique pistol has English proof marks, and is marked T. Ketland & Co. on the lock plate. Stocked in English walnut, trimmed in brass furniture, the brass trim is decorated with a few lines of hand engraving.
The lock is a delightful example of a English flint lock, with a few engraved accents on the lock plate and a graceful goose neck cock. The pan does not have a external bridle. The lock has a strong mainspring, a smooth trigger release, and a secure half-cock notch. The T. Ketland marking is for Thomas Ketland. Similar locks will be found with W. Ketland markings, Thomas's eldest son.
The English walnut stock displays some wood shrinkage with the brass buttcap standing above the grip of the stock. The rear of the lock panel has a 1/2" long crack at the tail of the lock. The muzzle end of the stock has two repaired cracks tapering toward the forward ramrod pipe. The stock also has a crack down the centerline of the ramrod channel.
